TRAINING MANAGEMENT FOR RURAL COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM 26-28 SEPTEMBER 2012

The national policy on autonomy, confirmed since 1999 has made the village into an important position. In the future development, the village is no longer determined solely by the city and district. Precisely villagers are expected to be the main subject of development (Tjokrowinoto, 1987). The villagers will have many advantages in the utilization of natural resources than when done by people from outside the country. Natural and cultural resources owned by the village is a potential that can be developed into a tourist attraction offering alternative tourism activities specific, unique, original, and socio-cultural nuances in the form of rural tourism. Development of rural tourism is also supported by the central government. National Community Empowerment Program (PNPM) Mandiri sectoral launched one of which is PNPM Mandiri Tourism. The program is a community empowerment program in the form of development of rural tourism. The development of community-based rural tourism requires time and careful planning is not short. Therefore, it needs the support of all parties. One is from the provincial and district levels. In providing support for the development of rural tourism, human resources at the provincial and district must have a good understanding of the ins and outs of rural tourism development and facilitation that are made will be appropriate and well targeted. Knowledge and understanding of rural tourism can be obtained through training, one of which is a Management Training for Community-Based Tourism Village this. With sufficient knowledge and understanding expected for tourism policy makers in the region, managers, initiators, and the parties associated with the tourist village will be more competent to develop rural tourism in a sustainable manner.

1. PURPOSE

Provide an understanding of the concept of rural tourism, community-based management principles and development
Improving the ability to plan programs to facilitate the development of community-based rural tourism.

2. COMPETENCE

Competencies expected after this training participants in full is:

Being able to understand the concept of rural tourism, community-based management principles and development
Able to facilitate the planning of programs of community-based rural tourism development.

3. PARTICIPANTS

Participants are policy holders, Technical Team PNPM Mandiri Tourism, officers, managers or those responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing and overseeing the development and management of rural tourism.

5. PLACE AND TIME OF

Training conducted in Yogyakarta for 3 days, on 26-28 September 2012. The method used is studied in class, discussion with the actors and managers of rural tourism, simulation, and live in one night in the tourist village.
